A groundbreaking Joint Development Agreement (JDA) has been signed to establish the world’s first liquid hydrogen import corridor, connecting the Sultanate of Oman, the Netherlands, and Germany.

Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel Boreas has arrived in the Netherlands after a smooth voyage from China of almost 14,700 nautical miles.

Following the christening, the ship will undergo further sea trials, and the final systems will be installed by the Royal Netherlands Navy in Den Helder.

Van Oord is to construct nature-friendly embankments along Lake Kleine Noorder IJplas in Amsterdam and undertake restoration work on the island of Ierst, a nature sanctuary in Lake Markermeer.

Germany and the Netherlands have recently issued the results of their latest offshore wind auction. They awarded a total capacity of 6.5 GW. That’s good for Europe’s energy transition. But the auction design in both countries included negative bidding.
