Royal Boskalis B.V. (Boskalis) has announced the latest addition to its versatile fleet: a groundbreaking subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel with a cargo capacity of 45,500 metric tons.
This project entails transporting the vessel—famously damaged by fire last year—aboard Boskalis' semi-submersible heavy lift flagship, the BOKA Vanguard, for necessary repairs and modifications in Asia.
Creating New Horizons in Port Construction – that’s what Boskalis did in Nigeria. In Lekki, 80 kilometers east of Lagos, we constructed a new port and 700-meter-long sandbar breakwater for which we used the natural sand flow along the Nigerian coast. An excellent example of Building with Nature
The vessel will have a hopper capacity of 31,000 m3 and will be built at the IHC yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands, over the next few years.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority and Eneco are going to construct shore-based power facilities in the Waalhaven, Rotterdam (the Netherlands) so that moored Boskalis vessels can run on green electricity instead of fossil fuels.
