Hong Kong completes largest green methanol bunkering operation

Published:

Venture Energy, a subsidiary of Wah Kwong, has supported what is reported to be the largest single green methanol bunkering operation carried out in Hong Kong to date, supplying 1,000 tonnes of green methanol to the RoRo vessel CM Shenzhen in cooperation with Sinopec (Hong Kong).

The bunkering operation was carried out by the barge Da Qing 268 for the vessel operated by China Merchants Guangzhou RoRo Shipping Co. The green methanol was sourced from Shanghai Shenji Energy & Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shenergy Group, while Venture Energy arranged its delivery.

The operation was conducted in cooperation with Sinopec (Hong Kong) and other industry participants to supply green methanol to the Hong Kong bunkering market.

According to the companies, the project highlights the development of Hong Kong’s green marine fuel infrastructure and the broader efforts to establish a regional supply chain covering fuel production, logistics, storage, bunkering and end-use applications across the Greater Bay Area.

Venture Energy said it plans to continue working with partners on future green fuel bunkering projects.
