Netherlands opens permits for two wind farms

Published:

Developers will be able to apply in 2026 for permits with subsidy for two offshore wind farms in the Netherlands at IJmuiden Ver Gamma-A and Gamma-B.

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency said each site will have a capacity of 1GW, with both tenders expected to close in December 2026.

The agency added that subsidy decisions and permits are expected to be granted in the first quarter of 2027, with generation likely to begin from 2032.

For IJmuiden Ver Gamma-B, the maximum subsidy is set at €0.103 per kilowatt-hour, slightly lower than Gamma-A due to higher expected wind yields.

Both wind farms will connect to a single TenneT offshore platform, with electricity transported to shore at Maasvlakte.

The authority said simultaneous licensing will enable both sites to connect at once, reducing costs and construction time while optimising grid use.

Together, the two projects are expected to generate enough electricity to supply around 2 million households.
