Galileo Galilei is dredging the bay’s access channel, increasing its depth from -14 metres tot -16 metres and improving maritime accessibility to the port area.
The two expedition vessels will be sister ships to “Viking Octantis” and “Viking Polaris”, both built by Fincantieri’s Norwegian subsidiary Vard and delivered in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
The partnership also foresees close coordination with specialized companies, educational institutions, and research centers, under the umbrella of the Saudi Industrial Center
At the Naval Support and Experimentation Center of La Spezia, Fincantieri launched its first “DEEP” underwater drone system during a demonstration mission.
The agreement aims to integrate advanced carbon-based technologies into the civil and military sectors, opening new frontiers in terms of lightness, safety, and operational capability.
