Saipem and Curtiss-Wright Corporation have reached a significant milestone for the subsea applications industry: the completion of the qualification process of an all-electric seabed barrier fluid-less pump.
The two subsea cables, Proa and Taihei, will improve connectivity between the U.S., Japan and multiple Pacific island countries and territories, Google said in a blog post.
The collaboration involves the integration of surface vessels and submarines built by Fincantieri with the drone development programme “Hydrone” developed by Sonsub.
Subsea cables can be cut by anchors, including those dropped from ships that are disabled in attacks. A drifting ship with its anchor scraping the sea could be the culprit.
