Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore and Shenzhen Port Group have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to expand collaboration on green shipping corridor projects and support the development of low-carbon maritime infrastructure in China.
Classed by BV, the Frontier Venture has been assigned the SMART (H1,M1,EnE3,MH3) notations, recognizing its enhanced capabilities in machinery health monitoring and energy efficiency optimization.
The project comprises three wind turbines, each with 8-megawatt capacity, capable of generating enough electricity annually to meet the needs of approximately 45,000 households.
The operation took place at CHI Shanghai's shipyard terminal, where the COSCO Shipping Libra safely bunkered 2,100 tons of methanol fuel within 10 hours.
MODEC has been awarded an Approval in Principle (AiP) from Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) for a Floating Storage and Injection Unit “LCO₂ FSIU” that is capable to receive, temporarily store and ultimately inject carbon dioxide (CO₂).
These vessels will either be delivered with wind propulsion systems installed or prepared for future integration, using technologies from various suppliers such as Norsepower.
