Only three months after coming on stream Johan Castberg is producing at peak capacity of 220,000 barrels of oil per day. This increases energy deliveries from the Barents Sea by 150%.
31 March, at 10.35, the Johan Castberg oil field in the Barents Sea came on stream. The field will be producing for 30 years and bolsters Norway’s role as a reliable and long-term supplier of energy.
The Johan Castberg partnership, consisting of Equinor, Vår Energi and Petoro, is today updating the project cost estimate. The investment estimate has increased by almost NOK 13 billion since last year.
During construction of the hull for the Johan Castberg production vessel at Sembcorp Marine in Singapore, Equinor has revealed quality deviations regarding both welding and welding inspection.
