Lancaster FPSO on station west of Shetland

Published:

Hurricane Energy says the FPSO Aoka Mizu has undergone a successful hookup to the turret mooring system buoy at the Lancaster oilfield west of Shetland.

Now that the vessel is on station and securely moored, the focus is on producing first oil from the Lancaster early production system.

After this has been achieved, the company expects a gradual ramp-up toward the planned average plateau rate of 17,000 b/d.

Last August, Spirit Energy farmed into 50% of Hurricane’s Greater Warwick Area in the same region.

According to a recent results statement from Spirit’s parent company Centrica, it is funding a $180-million campaign that includes three wells, with a rig secured to start drilling in 2Q.

The wells will be on the Lincoln discovery and the Warwick prospect, thought to respectively contain 604 MMboe of 2C contingent resources and 935 MMboe of prospective resources.
