Italian energy and cable systems company the Prysmian Group recently welcomed a new vessel to its cable-laying fleet.

The new building covers 3,400 sqm and is designed to meet requirements for high-end freefall boats in the offshore segment and for special boats in the defense segment.

As first announced in April 2024, the new units will represent the pinnacle of the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet and will be the largest ever built for this brand

Finnish operator Viking Line’s 2008-built ro-pax ‘Viking XPRS’ has undergone a complete refit and is shortly to resume service on the Helsinki–Tallinn route.

The vessel is an electric Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (eCSOV) that will be constructed by Armon shipyard in Spain for the UK-based shipowner Bibby Marine Ltd.

The 136-metre sailing cargo vessel, the result of nearly a decade of development, marks the advent of a new generation of commercial vessels prioritising wind propulsion.

These ships are part of the contract signed by the Group in 2024, valued at approximately 1.18 billion euros.

The equipment will enable the vessels to provide comprehensive maintenance, supply and operational services to offshore oil-and-gas installations.

This fully electrified vessel runs and operates emission-free, which is a first in the dredging industry. The results of the pilot project offer valuable insights that will help the industry operate completely emission-free in the future.

The agreement covers Baleària's new high-speed aluminium structure catamaran Ro-Pax ferry, the Margarita Salas, which recently entered service.

Capable of taking up to 150 passengers, the vessel will operate between Norddeich and Norderney on the East Frisian Wadden Sea.

The vessels, based on the FACM-70 design, are currently under construction at Sefine Shipyard in Türkiye.
