Ukrainian agribusiness and logistics company Nibulon has signed a long-term contract with Romanian river logistics operator TTS (Transport Trade Services) S.A. for cargo transportation on the Lower Danube.
Under the agreement, Nibulon’s barge-tug convoys will operate international routes between Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria over the next four months.
The first voyage has already been completed, with Nibulon transporting phosphate fertilisers from Constanța to Prahovo in Serbia before loading grain and oilseeds at Bulgarian Danube ports for the return trip to Constanța.
The round-trip logistics model is intended to reduce empty voyages and improve fleet utilisation.
Cargo is transported by barge-tug convoys with a carrying capacity of around 8,000 tonnes each. The vessels are operated by Ukrainian crews.
According to the company, expanding international river transport has become a key part of Nibulon’s logistics strategy after losing access to Ukraine’s inland waterways following Russia’s full-scale invasion.
