ZeroUSV unveils Oceanus17 unmanned surface vessel with 100-day endurance

Published:

UK-based ZeroUSV has completed factory testing of its new Oceanus17 unmanned surface vessel (USV), with sea trials scheduled to begin shortly.

According to Defence Blog, the 17-metre Oceanus17 is the largest vessel in the company’s Oceanus USV range and represents an enlarged version of the Oceanus12, which was introduced in early 2025.

Compared with its predecessor, the new platform offers significantly higher performance. Payload capacity has increased from one tonne to 4,000 kg, while operational range has expanded from around 2,000 nautical miles to more than 5,000 nautical miles.

The vessel is designed to operate autonomously at sea for 50 to 100 days. It also features a cargo compartment capable of accommodating a standard ISO container, supported by an independent 30 kW power supply.

Separately, the UK government has announced plans to build six hybrid vessels designed to deploy unmanned systems and strengthen maritime surveillance capabilities. The ships are expected to enter service in the early 2030s.
