Deendayal Port to host India’s first port-based green hydrogen plant

Published:

Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, has signed an agreement with Oswal Greenzo Energies to set up the country’s first port-based green hydrogen plant.

Under the pact, Oswal Greenzo Energies will undertake the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 5 MW green hydrogen facility at the port. The project marks a significant milestone in building sustainable, future-ready port infrastructure and aligns closely with the Government of India’s Make in India – Make for the World vision and the objectives of the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

Once commissioned, the plant is expected to produce around 840 metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually. The clean fuel will be used across port operations, mobility applications and allied logistics activities, helping reduce carbon emissions from maritime, transport and supply chain operations while encouraging wider adoption of renewable energy at ports.

The initiative highlights Deendayal Port Authority’s growing focus on advanced technologies, renewable energy integration and innovation-led solutions, reinforcing its role as a key enabler of a low-carbon, sustainable and globally competitive maritime ecosystem.
