The Port of Long Beach was awarded $20 million by the California Energy Commission to fund the ongoing development of Pier Wind, a proposed 400-acre terminal to assemble and deploy floating offshore wind turbines.
The project comprises three wind turbines, each with 8-megawatt capacity, capable of generating enough electricity annually to meet the needs of approximately 45,000 households.

Saipem will carry out the operations using a variety of construction and support equipment, including the Saipem FDS2 and the Shen Da, which is part of the Saipem fleet as a chartered vessel.
