On 16th January, Damen Shipyards Galati cut steel on the third vessel in an order of four Island Class Ferries from Canada’s BC Ferries.

New battery-powered tug with 1,818 kWh capacity will be delivered by Sanmar Shipyard to the towage operator in H2 2025.

The dredger, which will be ready later this year, will be operated by the Port of Baku, a thriving transport hub on the western shore of the Caspian Sea.

Stena RoRo has taken delivery of E-Flexer No. 12 – in a series of 15 vessels – from the Chinese shipyard CMI Jinling (Weihai). The ship is the Guillaume de Normandie and is long-term chartered to the French shipping company Brittany Ferries.

Named AJAX by its new owner, the tug is based on the TundRA 2600 design from Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd and has been uniquely designed to meet the operator’s individual needs.

This marks the fifth new plug-in hybrid vessel to join the company’s fleet since the delivery of Electramar in December 2023.

The vessel, named Caspian Lotus, joins the company’s fleet of over 50 vessels and barges. Caspian Lotus begins its career supporting dredging projects in the Persian Gulf.
