The Combat Support Ship is of vital importance to the Royal Netherlands Navy’s permanent support and supply capacity, as well as that of its NATO partners.

The Dreadnought-class submarines will replace the Vanguard-class boats that have been in service since the 1990s. These new submarines will be larger, more stealthy, and significantly more advanced.

The gun is scheduled to be installed on the PES frigate in 2029.

The North Atlantic Alliance has deployed surface drones in the Baltic Sea as part of the Task Force X program.

Following the christening, the ship will undergo further sea trials, and the final systems will be installed by the Royal Netherlands Navy in Den Helder.

Damen has designed the vessels to meet the diverse needs of the modern navy.

These ships are part of the contract signed by the Group in 2024, valued at approximately 1.18 billion euros.

The submarine crews will in future be able to defend themselves against attacks and detection attempts from the air.

The vessels, based on the FACM-70 design, are currently under construction at Sefine Shipyard in Türkiye.

The Unity contract stretches over eight years and brings together all elements of research and technology, design, manufacture and in-service support of the nuclear reactors that power the Royal Navy’s fleet of submarines.

The Joint Mine Countermeasures Force of Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria will not be considered a NATO operation, but will be the first major joint action by the Black Sea Allies since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
