Leading marine energy developer Minesto and Schneider Electric have entered a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to develop and build ocean energy farms based on Minesto’s Deep Green technology.
A promising new way of generating electricity from the ocean is being trialled in Bass Strait (channel separating Victoria, Australia, from the island of Tasmania).
The partnership will identify potential sites for both mWave energy projects and combined wind and mWave energy projects in Japan and the neighbouring regions.
Ocean waves represent an abundant source of renewable energy. But to best use this natural resource, wave-energy converters need to be capable of physically handling ocean waves of different strengths without capsizing.
The funding round was led by Midroc New Technology, with additional investment from ALMI Invest Greentech, EIT InnoEnergy, and a group of private investors.
