Germany and the Netherlands have recently issued the results of their latest offshore wind auction. They awarded a total capacity of 6.5 GW. That’s good for Europe’s energy transition. But the auction design in both countries included negative bidding.
To expedite the process, monopiles are used as the foundation for the jetty. Van Oord is installing a total of 10 monopiles, including scour protection.
With capacities of 2 GW and 1 GW respectively, these two wind farms will provide a volume of electricity equivalent to the consumption of over 3,000,000 homes.
