The distinctive CSD600, which is being shipped as deck cargo at present, is a brand-new type of dismountable dredger, recently added to the Damen standard range of dredgers.
The vessel will have a hopper capacity of 31,000 m3 and will be built at the IHC yard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands, over the next few years.
It is the first time the LNG trailing suction hopper dredger has been used at any of the group’s ports, and only the second time it has carried out work in the UK.
Classification society Bureau Veritas has successfully reviewed a 3D design of a 2500 m³ hopper dredger from Damen Shipyards, being a step to granting it approval in principle.
Damen Engineering will implement 3D Classification for further designs after first end-to-end trial with a dredger vessel demonstrates efficiency gains and time savings.
