The Jacksonville District will begin annual maintenance dredging of the Jacksonville Harbor Federal Navigation Channel in mid-March 2025. The $25 million contract was awarded to Cashman Dredging & Marine Contracting Co., LLC on December 16, 2024.
Royal IHC has successfully launched the Electric Mining Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD) SANDRA. This launch took place at Royal IHC’s shipyard in Kinderdijk, The Netherlands.
Technology group Wärtsilä has signed a five-year Lifecycle Agreement with NMDC Group (NMDC), one of the largest dredging and marine contractors in the Middle East.
The cutter suction dredger will remove build-up sediment from the key shipping channels in the Demerara River, increasing navigational depths ensuring safe and efficient vessel traffic.
This fully electrified vessel runs and operates emission-free, which is a first in the dredging industry. The results of the pilot project offer valuable insights that will help the industry operate completely emission-free in the future.
The dredger, which will be ready later this year, will be operated by the Port of Baku, a thriving transport hub on the western shore of the Caspian Sea.
Dredging work in the Prinses Amaliahaven on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam has been successfully completed. The harbour basin has been deepened to 20 metres below sea level.
