JAX LNG and TOTE Services have recently completed their first ship-to-ship liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering of a foreign-flagged vessel at the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT).
The type-B tank is usually applied to the Fuel tanks of large sized container ships or bulk carriers but HMD has developed the technology to apply it to small and medium-sized LNG carriers of 30,000 m³ capacity.
The Hapag-Lloyd-owned 15,000 TEU container ship Sajir is currently being upgraded to run on LNG (liquefied natural gas) instead of fuel oil. It is the first retrofit of this scale.
The Guideline stipulates the layout and system design of LNG bunkering ships, fuel transfer systems, and operation, as well as class notations according to the equipment to be installed.
